OctoPrint controls the shared 3D printer. You need both application access and permission to use the physical printer.
You need approved 3D Printer access and the application permissions for your task. Use the portal's Request access guidance if you do not have it. Open OctoPrint.
¶ Prepare and supervise a print
- Confirm with the printer owner that the printer is available. Check the machine, build plate, filament, and nearby area in person.
- Slice the model for the correct printer, material, and nozzle. Open OctoPrint and complete Trafford sign-in and any application login.
- Upload the prepared G-code in Files. Check the selected filename and temperature targets before starting.
- Use Print only after the printer is ready. Watch the first layer and monitor the print with the owner’s agreed supervision.
- When complete, wait for the machine to cool and follow the owner’s removal and cleanup instructions.
Expected result: The selected job runs on the intended printer and finishes under appropriate supervision.
The Control and Temperature tabs operate real hardware. A web login does not establish that the printer is physically ready. Use Manyfold for model browsing.
- Printer disconnected: ask the owner to check the connection; do not repeatedly reconnect or reset it during another job.
- Unexpected temperature or movement: stop the job if safe and contact the owner.
- Upload succeeds but Print is unavailable: the printer may be busy or your application role may not allow control.
