Paperless turns uploaded documents into a searchable archive. Text recognition takes time and may need correction.
You need approved Paperless access and the application permissions for your task. Use the portal's Request access guidance if you do not have it. Open Paperless.
¶ Upload and organize a document
- Open Paperless and choose Trafford Portal to sign in.
- Upload a PDF or supported document through the document upload area. Wait for processing to finish before uploading it again.
- Open Documents and search for the new document. Open it and compare the preview and recognized text with the original.
- Set a useful title, date, correspondent, document type, and tags where appropriate. Save the changes.
- Search for a phrase from the document to check that you can find it again.
Expected result: The document is visible in your archive with useful metadata and searchable text.
Keep originals according to your own document requirements. Classification, tags, and searchable text do not verify a document’s accuracy. Only upload records you are authorized to store in the archive.
- Upload accepted but document missing: processing may still be running; check the queue/status before retrying.
- Search misses words: OCR may have misread a scan. Try the title or metadata filters and inspect the original.
- Another user cannot see it: document permissions are separate from tags. Ask the owner to review access.
